I can't believe that it has been over 1 month since my last posting! It is amazing how busy the household gets when you add another member to the bunch. Jager and Isla definitely keep me on point at all times! They are the best of buds and keep things interesting, that's for sure.
Isla continues to blossom! She is just adorable with the cutest little personality! She likes to be in the mix of everyone and is a great little helper to me. She is very independent, she wants to do it all and do it by herself.
Isla started a 2 morning a week Montessori preschool program this past week. According to her teacher, she had a wonderful week. She enjoys playing kitchen - "cooking" and using the various food and baked goods with the oven set. She loves hearing stories, and spent quite a bit of time playing with a castle, princesses and fairy set. They also noted she is adept with puzzles, and they look forward to challenging her in the coming months. She was very enthusiastic about art! They used Crayola markers to scribble on paper towels, then sprayed them with water for a "tie-dyed" effect. She was more competent with the markers than many of the other children, so clearly she has spent some time coloring. She has a moment of brief tears when I drop her off, but they quickly go away after I leave. This too shall pass with time.
We had a wonderful visit with our new social worker and have already received our first post report. Typically this is not needed, but in the state of Massachusetts it is for readopting purposes. Another report will be done at 6 and 12 months, then we will be able to proceed with the "readoption" process with the legal name change and Isla becoming a US citizen. We were able to get her a social security number, which was huge! We weren't certain how that would go and it all went in our favor.
We had a fantastic Christmas and New Year! My parents drove up from Florida to spend Christmas with us. Then we drove to Rochester, NY for the New Year to spend time with Thomas' family. Isla fits right in, just like she has been with us forever!
The picture below was taken at Clix in Rochester on December 30th.
